Climate Control

SIPs insulation does most of the work. Here's how to heat and cool your garden room in every season.

SIPs Does the Heavy Lifting

Every Green Rooms build uses Structural Insulated Panels in the walls, floor and roof. SIPs delivers U-values comparable to modern housing — meaning your garden room retains heat efficiently in winter and stays cool in summer without constant energy input.

The result: most garden room users find they need very little heating or cooling for moderate temperatures. A well-insulated SIPs room is typically comfortable from around 5°C to 25°C outdoor temperature with no active climate control.

Budget option

SIPs insulation alone keeps the room comfortable across most of the year. Many customers bring their own plug-in heater for winter — perfectly adequate for occasional use.

What Most Customers Choose

For a garden office used daily year-round: the 2.5kW AC unit (+£1,860) is the best value. It heats in winter, cools in summer, and installs cleanly as part of the build on its own dedicated circuit.

For a hobby room or occasional use: the Smart Heater Panel (+£330) is usually enough. The SIPs insulation heats the room quickly and holds the temperature well — and you can always add AC later.
