In the heart of Thorpe Village, we transformed an unusable patch of garden where the grass struggled to grow due to lack of sunlight, into a sleek, contemporary music studio and home office. The client needed a dedicated soundproof space for regular drum practice—so we got to work designing a garden room that hit all the right notes.
This bespoke build measures 3.5m wide by 3m deep and sits on a ground screw foundation, allowing for a quick, low-impact install. To maximise soundproofing, we constructed the building using 5" structural insulated panels (SIPs), providing excellent thermal and acoustic performance.
All glazing was upgraded to acoustic glass, including the 3m aluminium bifolding doors in Anthracite Grey and a top-hung aluminium window, which is framed by stylish wall lights on either side. The garden-facing walls were clad in beautiful Western Red Cedar, giving the exterior a warm, modern finish. A sleek canopy with integrated downlights adds a subtle architectural feature while enhancing the entrance.
The result is a peaceful, purpose-built garden studio that looks great and performs brilliantly—ideal for drumming without disturbing the neighbours, and doubling as a productive home office space when needed.
If you're dreaming of your own garden music studio, we're here to help make it happen.
